Carlisle Racecourse offers thoroughbred hospitality and overlooks nothing except the racecourse. 2008 marks the 104th year of horse racing at Blackwell and Carlisle Racecourse and see a total of 21 race days of National Hunt and Flat racing, many of which have themes to make the day even more special.
Horse racing in the historic border city of Carlisle dates back to at least the 16th century, and some are of the opinion that it may even date back to Norse times. But one thing is sure, in 1904 horse racing in Carlisle moved to the current Blackwell site when the Duke of Devonshire failed to allow the renewal of the lease on the land at The Swifts.
The modern Edinburgh Woollen Mill Grandstand and ongoing investment of over £1.5M in racing facilities, including a new hurdle track. Carlisle Racecourse boasts one of the premier corporate hospitality venues in the north-west of England and will undergo more improvements into 2009.

Private Boxes
Carlisle Racecourse has seven superb private box facilities on the second floor of the Jubilee Grandstand. The facilities offer groups the ideal opportunity to enjoy a great day experiencing the height of luxury. Each of the private boxes at Carlisle has its own private viewing balcony, closed-circuit television and friendly and professional staff to service the box.
The minimum number of guests in a box is 20, with a maximum of 30 per box, or multiples thereof (up to a maximum of 70) can be accommodated comfortably by combining private box facilities.

Marquees
Carlisle Racecourse has two marquee sites, overlooking the Parade Ring and in the heart of the racecourse overlooking the finish. Both locations have great views and atmosphere.
Fully furnished with private garden area, Tote and closed-circuit televisions, marquees will accommodate a minimum of 40 guests.

Restaurants
The Swifts Restaurant
The Hospitality Club Package is available in The Swifts Restaurant on private tables for guest numbers of a minimum of 2 to a maximum of 10 per table.
