Cartmel

An ideal venue for any celebration or event as the location is an attraction in itself, just over 20 minutes’ drive from the M6 and set amidst Cumbria’s most spectacular countryside. Cartmel has an interesting history as well as an unrivalled location with racing taking place at the course since 1856.
There are seven days of racing in total during 2011 including the popular meetings which take place over the Spring and August Bank Holidays, as well as a barbecue raceday in July, every race day sees an excellent attendance. Cartmel boasts a new grandstand along with improved viewing galleries allowing visitors to experience the thrill of the race from exceptional vantage points.
The course at Cartmel is a left handed oval of about one mile one furlong, which is bisected by the finishing straight. The run in at just over four furlongs is the longest in the country, and with the tight nature of the bends, undulating contours and carnival atmosphere all around.
